If you’re concerned about the bible’s references to being gay as a sin, you need to look no further for the answers that you might have been seeking. The “Queen James Bible” is being promoted as the first gay bible in history. The bible removes all references to being gay as a sin, and was published at the end of November.
Those releasing the book claim that the book prevents “homophobic culture” from being a distraction to those seeking to study the teachings of Jesus Christ. The publishers say that there was no mention of homosexuality in the bible until 1946 when the revised version was released to the public. They also claim that this version is often misinterpreted.
One change made to the bible is that of Leviticus 18:21: “Thou shall not lie with mankind as with womankind: it is abomination.” Instead, it says, “Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind in the temple of Molech: it is an abomination.” This argues that gay culture started as a pagan practice and is only banned when the acts are done in the name of paganism.
Part of the reason that the authors call this version of the bible the “Queen James” version is because they believe that King James slept with both men and women.
“King James I’s many gay relationships were so well known that amongst some of his friends and court, he was known as ‘Queen James,’” the book says on its website. “It is in his great debt and honor that we name the Queen James Bible so.”
Some people are not happy about the new version of the bible.
“You can change words in the Bible at your own peril, but just because you change the words to make yourself feel better about your grievous sin of homosexuality, it does not change the truth,” one reviewer wrote about the text. “The truth is, homosexuality is a sin and an abomination in the sight of God. … God help you. The sign of a person who is truly saved is a person who turns from their sins and their life is changed. You cannot say you are saved and then continue in the same lifestyle and life – because if you do friend, I’m sorry to tell you, you are not saved.”
